Privacy Policy

Effective date: April 23, 2026 Last updated: April 23, 2026

Astbury Law, PLLC (“we,” “our,” or “the firm”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through our website at astburylaw.com, how we use it, how we protect it, and what choices you have about it.

If you have questions about this policy, contact us at warren@astburylaw.com or 814-821-1140.

1. Information we collect

Information you provide directly

When you fill out a form, send us an email, or contact us through the website, you may provide:

  • Your name, email address, phone number, and other contact information
  • Information about your employment situation, including details about your employer, dates, events, and documents
  • Any attached files, screenshots, or other materials you voluntarily send us

We treat information submitted through the website with the same care we’d treat any client communication. However, submitting a form or sending an email does not create an attorney-client relationship and does not by itself make your communication a protected attorney-client confidence. Until we have formally agreed to represent you, please avoid sending highly confidential or sensitive information through the website.

Information collected automatically

When you visit the website, we and our service providers may automatically collect:

  • Log data — IP address, browser type, operating system, referring website, pages visited, time spent on pages, and similar technical information
  • Cookies — small files stored on your device that help the website function, remember your preferences, and help us understand how visitors use the site
  • Analytics data — aggregated information about website usage, collected through analytics services (such as Google Analytics) that help us improve the site

Information from third parties

We generally do not purchase, receive, or otherwise obtain personal information about you from third parties. If we ever do, we will treat that information in accordance with this policy.

2. How we use your information

We use information you provide and information we collect for the following purposes:

  • To respond to inquiries about potential legal representation
  • To evaluate whether your matter is one we can help with and, if so, to begin providing legal services
  • To send you information about your matter or about the firm (such as intake follow-ups)
  • To operate, maintain, and improve the website
  • To comply with legal obligations, respond to lawful requests, and protect the firm’s rights
  • To detect, investigate, and prevent fraudulent, unauthorized, or illegal activity

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your information with third parties for their marketing purposes.

3. How we share your information

We may share information in the following limited circumstances:

  • With service providers who help us operate the website and communicate with you — such as hosting providers, email providers, analytics providers, and form providers. These providers are contractually required to use your information only to provide services to us.
  • To comply with legal obligations — if we are required by law, subpoena, court order, or similar legal process.
  • To protect the firm or others — if necessary to investigate fraud, security issues, or violations of our Terms of Use, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of the firm or others.
  • In connection with a business transition — such as a merger, reorganization, or sale of the firm, in which case your information may be transferred as part of the transaction (subject to the privacy protections in this policy).

We do not disclose information protected by the attorney-client privilege or the attorney work-product doctrine except as permitted or required by law.

4. Data retention

We retain information you submit through the website for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy — typically for the duration of any consultation or engagement, plus a period afterward consistent with our professional obligations, ethical rules, and applicable laws. Client file retention is separately governed by Michigan’s rules of professional conduct and our engagement agreements.

5. Security

We take reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect the information we collect. However, no method of transmission over the internet or storage of electronic information is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

If you have reason to believe your information has been compromised, please contact us at 814-821-1140 or warren@astburylaw.com.

6. Your choices

Cookies. Most browsers allow you to refuse cookies, delete existing cookies, or alert you when cookies are set. If you refuse cookies, some features of the website may not function properly.

Analytics. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Communications. If you receive emails from the firm and no longer wish to receive them, you can reply and ask to be removed from future communications.

7. California residents

California law gives California residents certain rights regarding personal information. If you are a California resident, you may have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose
  • Request deletion of personal information we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate personal information
  • Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising)
  • Not be discriminated against for exercising these rights

To exercise these rights, contact us at warren@astburylaw.com or 814-821-1140. We may need to verify your identity before responding to your request.

8. Michigan and other state residents

State privacy laws are evolving. If you are a resident of any U.S. state that grants you specific privacy rights, you may contact us at warren@astburylaw.com to inquire about exercising those rights, and we will respond in accordance with applicable law.

9. Children’s privacy

The website is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.

The website may contain links to third-party websites (for example, government agency pages referenced in our articles). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third-party websites. When you leave astburylaw.com and visit another site, that site’s privacy policy governs.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or applicable law. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. If the changes are material, we will provide additional notice (such as posting a notice on the website homepage).

Your continued use of the website after any changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
